The Bridge: Gen-Z’s wandering eye has landed on something familiar for older generations, the dumb jock archetype – reinvented as the “Himbo Aesthetic”.
And Himbo Was His Name-O
This week’s lingo is straight out of an 80’s teen-movie, updated of course. The Himbo, a ‘dumb,’ attractive, and physically buff male, is a popular role many Gen-Zers are taking on, or crushing on. Characterized by their kind demeanor and helpful nature, how couldn’t you fall for one?!
Himbos are the male response to the popular bimbo aesthetic sweeping the internet. Like bimbos, himbos are known for being the shiniest lightbulb – not the brightest. The average himbo enjoys working out, meal prepping, and posting thirst-traps on social media. Nowhere in there did we mention reading, writing, nor ‘rithmetic. It’s a simple life.
For reference, think back to Brendan Fraiser in George of the Jungle: the OG himbo. A modern day equivalent would be Chris Hemsworth as Marvel’s Thor.
If a himbo falls in the gym, but nobody saw, did he really fall? Let us know in the comments @thegenbridge
